This course provides a detailed examination of the fundamental elements on which computers are based. Topics include number systems and computation, electricity and basic circuits, logic circuits, memory, and computer architecture. Operational code and assembly languages are discussed and then implemented on a virtual assembler and simulated environment. During the course, the student will build virtual logical gates (basic and complex), a full adder and subtractor, design a computer, and program using a simple assembly language.
This course meets Mondays and Thursdays.
